Friday night was senior night, my last game.

Rodrigo was finally here to watch me, flying in from Cali. It was against Sutherlin. Last time we played they beat us by 20, and I had 10 points during garbage time. This was going to be different.

I scored the first bucket on a drive in layup, and that got me pumped. I also dropped a 3 and was on the receiving end of an alley oop, giving me 7 points in the first quarter. I was feeling really good in the start. I had one more layup before halftime, and the rest of my squad was on point too. we had a good lead at the half.

In the second half we started off kinda flat, but we slowly picked it up. However Sutherlin was right there with us, and towards the end of the game the lead was switching back and forth. I hit a clutch freethrow late in the 4th, and came up with some key steals/rebounds, especially one that secured us a possesion with 7 seconds left. Tie game.

Our point guard got the inbound, went coast to coast, and threw up a wild layup from the middle of the key, and it went in!! The student section stormed the floor, even though there was still .4 sec left LOL. they had to send em back to the stands until sutherlin threw up a prayer, missing from halfcourt. the student section stormed yet again. I couldn’t believe it.

We got the win in dramatic fashion to close out my career. My girlfriend stayed to see me and I gave her a huge hug after the game. My cousin, who I look up to as a role model and mentor, was there with his family to support me. My mom was there, all my friends. I scored 10 points, remaining consistent with my last few games. It seemed perfect. I know I’m gonna really miss playing ball for a team, but I couldn’t have asked for a better ending..

Well maybe if I hit the game winner instead :p ahwell
